Aberfeldy Distillery is nestled within a lush valley in the foothills of the Central Highlands of Scotland. Known as the ‘Golden Dram’, the distillery’s water source is the famous Pitilie Burn, renowned locally for its water quality and famed for its deposits of alluvial gold. Time-honoured techniques, such as longer fermentation, conjure rare honeyed notes – key to the signature sweetness of Aberfeldy’s malts.

Abounding in heather honey, creamy macadamia nuts and chewy beeswax. Plush with dried fruits, toasted coconut, silky oak and a wee trace of smoke.

Aberfeldy Barrels and Bees is a golden union of Aberfeldy Single Malt Whisky and local honey, sharing our stories, our crafts and our complementary flavours. We are partnering with local beekeepers to find the perfect match of honey for our Aberfeldy Golden Dram Cocktail and educating bartenders on using better honey in mixed drinks. Honeybees are responsible for pollinating 1/3 of the food we eat, and they’re on the decline; Aberfeldy Barrels and Bees is seeking to actively raise awareness of this and support the local bee community.
Join us by buying some raw honey from your local beekeeper to mix up our Golden Dram cocktail:
- 50ml / 2oz Aberfeldy 12 Single Malt Whisky
- 2 barspoons of local honey syrup *100g of honey and 64g water, stir and leave to chill
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 2 dashes orange bitters
Garnish with an orange twist over gold ice.
Add the honey syrup, bitters and Aberfeldy 12 to a mixing glass, then add ice and stir to dilute (around 30 seconds). Pour into a rocks glass, then add (gold) block ice. Cut and curl an orange twist, expressing the zesty oils over the drink, then discard.
